The reality of going home kind of hit this morning.
There was a coating of snowy slush on the car as I loaded it into the trailer; the temperature was hovering around the freezing mark; we were heading further east as Route 66 turned north to Chicago; and we had no further destinations or attractions on our agenda for the remaining 650 miles.
Our thoughts went simultaneously in opposite directions.  We remembered all the people, places and things we had experienced since December 1st.  Then we thought about what we had to do when we got home and looked forward to seeing family and friends again.
We made it to Richmond, Indiana tonight, abut 3 miles from the Ohio State line and our final Wal-Mart RV Resort for this trip.  The weather was dreary and cold all day and with a sub-freezing overnight forecast, we put an extra blanket on the bed before retiring.
