Friday, March 18th

Leaving Las Vegas, we continued in an easterly direction. toward New Mexico.  The drive today was a long and slow in places as we climbed mountains in Arizona that took us above 7,500 feet.  Although a beautiful route, one thing we saw that we had tried so hard to avoid this winter was snow.  It was on the shoulder of the road near Flagstaff and in some places was nearly a foot deep.  Fortunately, as we began to descend on the western side of the mountains the white stuff disappeared and the temperatures were again in the 70's.

We arrived in Albuquerque at the American RV Park about 10 miles west of the downtown area and right on historic old Route 66.

This is a very nice park with pool, hot tub, bocce and horse shoe courts, a dog park, free Wi-Fi and free continental breakfast each morning.

We got set up and settled in before nightfall.  Tomorrow, we ride the "Mother Road".
