Kind of a maintenance day today.
Judy shopped this afternoon for provisions while I gave the dog a bath. Really livin' the dream now, right?
Hey, it's 28 degrees at home and 61 degrees here at 9:30 in the evening. Even if we do nothing, I would rather do nothing at this temp than that.
This evening we went into the old historic district for dinner. Capriccio's Italian Cafe is a small place with wooden floors, brick interior walls and flowers and candles on each table. The service was quick and pleasant.
They start you off with a small loaf of crusty rosemary bread. Quite good, but would have been better if served with some dipping oil. Judy got the Chicken Picatta; chicken breasts sauteed in white wine with capers and lemon on a bed of angel hair pasta. She shared a bite with me and we both agreed it was incredible. My choice was Cioppino; arriving at the table in a large bowl, it was loaded with shrimp, scallops, calamari, salmon and clams. All of these goodies were served in a spicy tomato broth. My first introduction to this dish was a few years ago in the town of Florence, Oregon. Our friend and occasional traveling companion, Nancy, described it to us as one of her favorites. We tried it and it was immediately one of ours as well. The version tonight at Capriccio's was even better. Best part...there was enough of each dinner left over for another meal. I'll bet it will be just as good on the replay.
