Well, if Judy recovers any further, I'm pretty sure it will kill me...or at least cripple me.
Feeling a bit stronger today, we went a little further than yesterday on the bicycles...probably 6 or 8 times further.
This time we went the other way on the coastal bike trail. It starts at the western end of Main Street along the edge of the Ventura River. I guess at some time during the year there is water in the river. Today there were only a few shallow puddles. About a quarter mile down the trail you're at the beach. Complete with tide pools, driftwood and California Surfer Dudes, this is without a doubt the land of the Beach Boys and Gidget.
As you continue south on the beach trail the activity picks up the nearer you get to the downtown area and the Ventura City Pier. Folks are everywhere walking their dogs, sitting on benches gazing at the surf or in the water trying to catch a wave. There are a couple of restaurants at the pier and I'm sure we'll get to try them before we leave here.
Today we returned to the Busy Bee Cafe. That great replica 50's diner. It's quickly becoming our favorite place in town. But even of you don't go for the retro decor, you will go for the food. It's really good! Hearty, filling, and huge portions prepared any way you like. If it's not on the menu, ask. If they can do it, they will. A cool touch for us "Baby Boomer" types...when they bring the check, the give each guest a Bazooka Bubble Gum...the kind with the comic inside!
As we got back to the coach, I was sure that I was going to have to be transported to the E.R. to have the bicycle surgically removed from my colon. I have got to find a better seat! It took a while before I could sit down comfortably. Later in the evening a long soak in the Jacuzzi made me feel all better.
I'm pretty sure the next time I'm on two wheels I'll have 88 cubic inches of Harley motor between my knees and a saddle wider than a spatula handle under my butt cheeks...I ask again...Who designed those bicycle seats?????
