This morning, we went to the Big Texan again, this time for breakfast before heading back onto the road. Breakfast was O.K. but did not measure up to dinner last night. We did not try the buffet...just too much food!
Being in the panhandle, we were in the shortest portion of Texas between states. Only a distance of about 175 miles of Interstate 40 is in the Lone Star State, as compared to the 880 miles of I-10 we traversed on our way west. So, less than two hours from Amarillo, we crossed into Oklahoma, and after a 450 mile day found ourselves in Venita, about 15 miles from the Missouri State line.
Interstate 40 continues to run alongside Route 66, and we parked for the night in the local "Wally-World" which was located on 66. We rented a Red Box movie "Get Him To The Greek" (Funny parts-slow parts), and enjoyed free internet access courtesy of a nearby hotel. Tomorrow, we're of to St. Louis, Missouri.
