Got up this morning to glorious sunshine. First order of business...walk down to the corner and take a photo.
Yes folks, that's me "Standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona...such a fine sight to see..." A town made famous by the Eagle's song "Takin' it Easy".
The drive continued and we stopped at a classic tourist trap roadside attraction - Geronimo's Trading Post.
It's definately cheezy, but the fun kind of cheezy. Truthfully, the place was loaded with some incredible Native American art. Including paintings, pottery and silver sculpture. All this mixed in with the polished rocks and toy bow and arrow sets for the kids.
We took the obligatory tourist photos of the teepee's and continued toward New Mexico.
We arrived in Albuquerque in mid afternoon at the American RV Resort. A very nice place with concrete sites and paved roads. The resort amenities included a dog park, pool, hot tub, bocce courts, horseshoe pits, free internet and free continental breakfast each morning. And it's located right on historic Route 66,
That evening, we drove into town and went to Old Town. The area originally settled by the Spanish in the 1600's. At the church we talked to the Priest and some locals when Mass was ended. We were advised to go to Little Anitas for authentic Mexican food. Encheladas, tomales and sopipillias. OH MY! I wish I got the names of the folks who sent us there. I would like to thank them, especially for the sopipillias, a fried bread dough with honey...like I said OH MY!
